BatteryMaster
Advanced fault diagnosis and remaining useful life methods for electric vehicle batteries based on data analysis for realistic operation conditions
Sumary
The developments of the BatteryMaster project in the area of fault diagnosis and remaining useful life of batteries of different chemistry for electromobility applications, will impact different electric vehicles types such as hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or light electric vehicles (LEVs).
The BatteryMaster project is aligned with the main thematic areas of ecological transition such as descarbonization, energy efficiency, electrification and enery storage.
Due to the current electrification of the automotive sector, electrochemical batteries are assuming a leading role. However, they are facing important challenges related to volumetric and power densities but also related to their management in terms of maximizing the effective number of charge/discharge cycles, ensuring an optimal state of health, or predicting the remaining useful life (RUL). The BatteryMaster project aims at contributing disruptively in this field, by developing effective monitoring and prediction tools based on specific data processing methods for monitoring and predicting the state of health of the batteries and the RUL, thus allowing to apply remedial actions to neutralize or minimize fault occurrence while maximizing the number of charge/discharge cycles. Realistic data will be used based on openly published data, simulated and experimental data taking into account realistic driving cycles (real-world data) generated in this project.
